In this video we show you how to create a page that is visible to your website's members only.
In this article, we're going to show you how to use the Members Only button found above your WordPress standard content editor. If you do not see a Members Only button, please reach out to us with a support ticket or email us at support@worshiptimes.org so we can activate that feature for you.
- Create or edit a page or post.
- Click the Members Only button. It's going to drop in some text and shortcodes for you - shortcodes are what you see in brackets. Any content that is in between these two short codes, the members and the end members, are going to require a user to be logged into your website to view the content.
- Add any of the content that you want locked off in between the shortcodes. Note that this feature does not protect anything in your Media Library. You won't see it displayed on the front-end, but anything added to your Media Library is still publicly accessible via direct link. Submit a support ticket or reach out to us at support@worshiptimes.org for other options.
- Publish the page.
On the front-end, it'll just say you must log in to view the content. And then once you're logged in, you'll be able to see whatever is there. For this to work, the user, a visitor, is going to need a user account.
- From your dashboard, click on Users.
- Add New User and give them a role of Subscriber. A subscriber can view content that is locked off via the Member Only tool, but they can't make any edits to your website. If you do not see the option to Add New User, you can Request a New User or reach out to us at support@worshiptimes.org to enable that feature.
- Users will need to verify themselves via the verification email they receive from WordPress. If they do not receive an email, ask them to check their Spam/Junk folders. If they still cannot find the email, submit a support ticket or contact us at support@worshiptimes.org - we can look into getting your site's admin email validated to help with email deliverability, and/or we can add the user(s) without needing to verify their email.
